Since graduating, she has been passionate about play as a therapeutic tool and in 2011, with other students from the Faculty of Medicine and Health, she founded MadAlegria, a clown project with the aim of humanizing care and the relationship between patients/clients and healthcare professionals.

Karina has a postgraduate degree from the Multiprofessional Health Residency program at the Federal University of São Paulo (UNIFESP) and was enchanted by the universe of intergenerationally (beneficial relationships between different age groups) and palliative care.

In 2017, she moved to Dublin to improve her English and participated as a volunteer research assistant at the Global Brain Health Institute (GBHi) at Trinity College. In 2018, with the aim of connecting children and the elderly in a happy, irreverent and affectionate atmosphere, she founded the Brazil Clowning Project, engaging the Brazilian community living in Dublin in volunteer work through clown workshops. The project has expanded and with its volunteers it has already visited Africa, Nepal and now Brazil, with video calls of hope and affection during the pandemic period.

Karina is the author of the book “Nao tenho medo do ralo”.
